The Data Protection Training Centre

We are the only online training centre dedicated to bringing you top quality training and information about Data Protection. Training is one of the cornerstones of culture change and remediates one of the greatest risks regarding your organisation – uninformed staff and management. Our training is designed to bring about that change in a controlled manner with a consistent message for all employees.

Our reporting and training solution has 4 high quality courses: Executive – Enterprise Edition, Executive – SME Edition, Implementation - Management & Technical edition, General User Training

The training is hosted for you and is easy to rollout across your organisation. The Reporting Facility offers regular reporting when you use our General Training course. This facility can be used for presentation / documentation to supervisory authorities. This alone may lower your risk of fine.

The content was created by leading Global Consultant Daragh O’Brien and designed by a team with 15 years in e-Learning. It acts as a competence centre where content will be updated as changes to the interpretation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) are made.

Meet the Team

Daragh O’Brien

Daragh is a recognised and award-winning innovator in the global GDPR, Data Quality and Data governance industries. He is the author of three books on the subject, trains teams in many sectors and advises Public Sector bodies.

His unique blend of business and technical acumen and experience in the areas of Information Quality, Data Governance, and operationalizing Regulatory Compliance processes (including Data Protection). His project experience spans both high level Information Strategy definition and ‘boots on the ground’ process and solution design and execution. This breadth of experience and insight over the past 15 years has resulted in Daragh being a widely respected and recognised expert in the global Information Quality and Data Governance community.

Daragh is an active contributor to the Innovation Value Institute's IT-CMF framework. He is also a Charter member and former Director of the International Association for Information and Data Quality. He currently serves as Global Privacy Advisor to DAMA International. He is a Certified Information Quality Professional (IQCP) and a Six Sigma Green Belt, as well as holding formal qualifications in Data Protection and Adult Learning.

Clare Murphy

A qualified solicitor and experienced journalist, Clare provides Data Protection document review and drafting expertise. She has worked with our clients in the software, charity and education sectors, including a privacy impact assessment for the implementation of a new student grant allocation system.

Starting her career with The Irish Times, Clare held staff positions with BBC Northern Ireland and RTE before training as a lawyer with Hayes solicitors. There she specialised in media and commercial law. Following several years in Paris with the France24 news channel and as a lecturer at Sciences Po University, Clare joins Castlebridge as an Associate Consultant to focus on Data Governance, Data Protection, Freedom of Information and Privacy.

Clare holds a B.A. in Politics and Sociology from Trinity College, an M.A. in Journalism from Dublin City University and a Diploma in Technology and IP Law from the Law Society of Ireland.

Dr Katherine O’Keefe

A connection-maker, researcher, and educator, Katherine brings her rigorous background in academic research, textual analysis, and andragogy to the subjects of Data Governance and Data Protection. Since joining Castlebridge Associates in 2013 after tutoring and lecturing at University College Dublin and St. Patrick’s College Drumcondra, Katherine has advised and trained clients in the telecommunications, transportation, education, and not-for-profit sectors.

Katherine has co-written public consultation documents on Data Governance in the public sector, a chapter on using Agile Data Governance in a regulatory environment, and white papers on Subject Access Requests, the privacy implications of instant messaging in a medical context, and Information Governance Strategy for the implementation of Health Identifiers.

John Harty

An all rounder, with 15 years experience in e-learning, John came from a Quality Assurance and Project Management background working with multinational such as Intel, IBM and Microsoft. He moved into IP compliance via Intel’s Software Legal and Compliance in 2011 and qualified as a Data Protection Practitioner in February 2015. He currently works as a Product Manager and DPO for RegTech specialists Advanced Metadata.

John has a strong understanding of the existing Data Protection Act and the upcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and is experienced regarding the practical & technical requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation and how it should sit alongside culture change and data governance within organisations.

John holds an BA in Psychology and Philosophy from University College Dublin, A Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology from NUI Maynooth. His profession qualifications include: Certified Data Protection Practitioner (CDPP), MCSE, ISEB in Software Testing and he is a qualified Scrum Product Owner.

Grant Bobbett - Managing Director of Pro films

Grant has 15 years Film Management experience garnished working alongside Irish and International Film Directors, Production Designers and Directors of Photography. Including; Stephen Sodeberg (Haywire), Soren Gam (The Bridge), John Mathieson (Cracks), Richard Kendrick (Song of Granite). Lenny Abrahimson (Frank). John Carney (Bachelors Walk).

An aesthetic driven Location Manager with a focused understanding of visual style. He has been a trusted Head of Department for many State Broadcasters including BBC, ITV, Sky, RTE, HBO and Netflix.

Grant has a honours European Masters in Audio Visual Management (EMAM) from University of Rome and Higher Diploma in Film Production.

Brian Deane – Director

Brian Deane is a internationally renowned multi-award winning short film maker. To date he has screened in over 50 cities in 30 countries around the world, picking up 34 nominations and 27 awards and accolades in the process. He was Oscar long-listed in the live action short film category in 2015 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for his first film Volkswagen Joe he has since gone on to work with RTE and the Irish Film Board on a number of internationally acclaimed projects. He is also the founder of TW Films, which has just finished its first feature ‘Highway' in the US and will be hitting Irish cinemas in 2018. As a freelance director and editor he has worked with some of Irelands biggest brands included Pfizer, Amgen, MARS Foods, Corona, Jaegermeister, Hotpress, Carphone Warehouse, Element Pictures, Hopkins Communications, Hunter PR and Aramark to name just a few as well as Internationally in the sub-Antarctic Islands last year for Heritage expeditions.
