Who we are

The Data Protection Training Centre is an Irish company developing cutting edge Data Governance, Metadata Management, and Regulatory training solutions for SMEs and Enterprise clients.

Our offices are based in Ashbourne, Co Meath

Joint Controllers

From time to time, the Data Protection Training Centre white-label our training tools to other trusted partner companies. In such cases, these partners will be Joint Controllers for the data that is provided to us by their clients or prospective clients.

For example, a data privacy consultancy might offer our solution under their own branding. the Data Protection Training Centre will have a legitimate purpose for processing data from those training requests to supply the administrators with the relevant courses and allow end users to register for training.

Data Processors

The Data Protection Training Centre licenses software components from other vendors as a part of developing and continually improving our solutions. From time to time this may involve engaging other software providers as data processors to process or analyse data on our behalf.

Examples of such data processors would include:

  • Email addresses
  • End dates of courses
  • Status completion

In addition, the Data Protection Training Centre also may engage specialist consulting firms to advise on issues and trends in the data or to work with our clients to address issues identified in the context of Regulatory compliance and Data Governance. These external consultancies will have access to some or all of the data being processed by the Data Protection Training Centre, subject to contractual and organisational controls.

What data are we processing?

In our training & reporting tools, the Data Protection Training Centre will process the following types of information:

  • First and Last name as provided on registration
  • Email addresses
  • End dates of courses
  • Status completion

We will also gather technical data about how you access our website and training material purposes of technical support, continual improvement of our products and services, and the detection and investigation of breaches of security or of the applicable terms and conditions of these services.

What will we do with it?

There are a number of distinct purposes that the data you provide to us will be used for.

Data Protection Training & Reporting Solution

Data provided through your interaction with your training and through the analysis of data sets provided to us by you or your organisation, will be used to produce:

  • ‘Your progress’ status report under your own user profile
  • ‘Your Marks’ status if you are taking the general training course – this is visible under your user profile
  • A general status report on the training rollout throughout your organisation. This will be sent to H.R or your organisation assigned administrator for this training program
  • A list of those who have not started their training
  • Course expiry / course renewal reminder email
  • An email offering a course upgrades
  • An email offering accredited certification

Sales and Marketing

Where you have engaged directly with the Data Protection Training Centre to conduct this training and reporting, we will use the contact information provided by the first registered user of our assessment tools for the purposes of follow up contact to:

  • Ensure you are getting full value from our training & reporting tool, including identifying and understanding new features or requirements that our customers may seek.
  • Provision of customer service and technical support
  • Inform you of other relevant products, events, or services from the Data Protection Training Centre that may be of interest to you
  • Inform you of relevant products, events, or services from our trusted partners who may be able to assist in your GDPR compliance initiatives.

Where you have engaged with our training & reporting tools via a third party service provider, they will be able to use your contact information for relevant sales and marketing purposes. The Data Protection Training Centre may, subject to the terms of any agreement with individual industry partners, contact individuals in your organisation for the purposes of:

  • Ensure you are getting full value from our training & reporting tools, including identifying and understanding new features or requirements that our customers may seek.
  • Provision of customer service and technical support
  • Inform you of other relevant products, events, or services from the Data Protection Training Centre that may be of interest to you
  • Inform you of relevant products, events, or services from our trusted partners who may be able to assist in your GDPR compliance initiatives.

Data Sharing with Third Parties

the Data Protection Training Centre Solutions will share data we hold about you and your organisation in our training & reporting with third parties either:

a) Where you have engaged a third party to provide consultancy and advisory services to you and they are white-labelling or reselling our platform to you to assist in that work.

b) Where, at your request, we have engaged a specialist third party from our trusted partner network to provide you with consultancy and advisory services.

c) Our platform provider Clickary Solutions

We will also provide data to third parties on foot of a legal obligation such as a Court Order, to seek legal advice from our counsel, or where necessary at the legitimate request of a law enforcement body to detect, investigate, or prosecute criminal offences.

Cross-border Data Transfers

the Data Protection Training Centre Solutions endeavours at all times to keep data provided to us within the European Economic Area. However, from time to time this may not be technically feasible. In such cases, the Data Protection Training Centre Solutions makes use of service providers who:

  • Are participants in the EU-US Privacy shield, or
  • Have appropriate Standard Contractual Clauses in place for cross border transfer, or
  • Are based in an EU Commission approved “Safe Country”.

How long will we keep it for?

the Data Protection Training Centre will keep data reasonable and appropriate periods of time based on the following key principles:

1. Users of our training platform will have their profile data and identifiable response data retained in the application for 18 months after the date of last access to their profile. After that period, their responses will be de-identified and retained for aggregation and benchmarking purposes.

2. Data sets provided for profiling and analysis will be deleted on completion of the analysis and are not retained.

3. Aggregated and de-identified response data will be retained indefinitely.

Please note that contact information for customers may be retained in other systems for longer or shorter periods of time.

Security of your Data

The Data Protection Training Centre take the security of your data very seriously. To that end, we apply appropriate internal controls on access to identifiable data about individuals or organisations. We use hosting services and platforms provided by Clickary Solutions, Microsoft and others which hold relevant information security certifications and are routinely audited for compliance.

Commercial Terms and Conditions of use for Training & Reporting Tools

the Data Protection Training Centre’s Training tools are provided for information purposes only, they do not replace risk assessment and planning assisted by appropriately qualified specialist advisory service. The videos do not constitute legal advice or detailed guidance on your organisation’s actual or potential exposure to liability under GDPR. Organisations are recommended to seek appropriate legal and data governance best practice advice before implementing any course of action based in whole or in part by the training and reporting solution.
